Q: What drew you to Plus and autonomous trucking?

A: “As General Counsel, you become even more deeply involved with the business strategy of the company, and it’s exciting to help create a technology that is new and innovative enough to catch the attention of the market.”

“A company with a mission is important to me, and Plus is a mission-driven company. Their autonomous trucking technology already is improving safety on the road and saving fuel as well as making driving a much more comfortable experience. This will be increasingly important as traffic increases, environmental issues become even more urgent, and driver shortages continue to impact our economy.”

Q: Describe your role at Plus.

A: “It’s not enough for the General Counsel to act as a lawyer but he or she should help shape the leadership discussion of business problems and solutions. I view my role at Plus as a key advisor to the executive team on risk in the broadest sense of the word; laws and regulations are just one part of that. The General Counsel also has to know how to scale an organization, especially a start-up like Plus, including implementing processes and protocols and hiring a team of professionals who can advise every corner of the business.”

Q: Elaborate on how your previous work experiences prepared you for the position of Plus General Counsel.

A: “Both Apple and Tesla set the standard in their industries yet both started off as underdogs. I learned, over and over, that you can accomplish things that people think are impossible by coming up with your own, unique, never-before-tried solutions. The lore at Tesla was that Elon would fire anyone who, if asked why something was being done a certain way, answered that’s the way other companies do it.”

Q: Describe the Plus culture.

A: “The people were another reason I joined Plus. The business has succeeded not only because of some truly brilliant people there, but a welcoming culture that emphasizes collaboration and support.”
